Restberlin
was bleibt?
Berlin∙2009-2021 ongoing
A non-linear & interactive movie based on database of over 100.000 selected photographs and over 80(?) hours of video footage taken in Berlin within the last 12 years.
Subjects are public places & events, leisure, non-personal documentary of daily public life in Berlin. A custom made animation and controller software continuously pulls image sequences from the database and delivers an audiovisual stream of contextualized high-resolution imagery.
The actual exhibit has neither a beginning nor predictable duration as it runs endlessly and continuously produces new versions when parameters are changed. By its nature, the stream is non-replicable as it is dependent on various parameters: content filters, animation settings, user interactions and audio feed.
The work raises questions about the social present and future, about personal and collective memory, considering the relationship between time, image, control and collectivity of our memory/data in modern day reality, and the Human Condition.
It's also an obsession with the city of Berlin and its fast, overlayering and ever changing impact of activities. Restberlin is an attempt to sequence this vast amount of digital memories and represents in itself both a solution and a problem: Paradoxically, the more images we gather the more they disappear. Their abundance makes them almost invisible.

Interactive video installation, multichannel video, performance

Die Spitze des Eisbergs
Fuckparade Berlin ∙ 2014
The Fuckparade is an annual protest march against everything in Berlin. The event began in 1997 as a protest against the increasing commercialisation of culture and public life and the misuse of the right of assembly by purely commercial ventures, in particular the Love Parade. The theme at the year 2014 was: "The tip of the iceberg".
